About this event

Join us in the Streets of Old Detroit as we explore the history and cultural influence of the Cass Corridor, a neighborhood routinely described in the media as “Detroit’s Notorious Cass Corridor.” Bounded by the Lodge, Interstates 75 and 94, and Woodward Avenue, the area became a symbol of Detroit’s decline in the late 20th century. Yet falling rents and its proximity to Wayne State University helped foster a vibrant community that became a regional center for social justice, anti-war and anti-fascist activism, a cradle for Detroit’s first avant-garde art movement, and a launching pad for two distinct waves of distinctly Detroit-style music. Celebrate the neighborhood’s creative legacy with light refreshments and live music.
