Lake Orion area: Nov 8th Bald Mtn Red Loop Hike, @Gs Afterwards

About this event

Please read date, time and description before signing up - signup and immediately bailing reflects badly on group.

This hike gets shoes dirty - bit of muck sometimes. Cross posted with Troy Foodies Meetup Group.

Not a fast paced cardio event - it’s a mindfulness event to focus on the bounty of nature.

Wear appropriate footwear, wear layers and bring water for yourself to drink. Suggest extra pair of shoes for restaurant. Total Distance: ~5.8 to 6 miles (including the walk from the restaurant parking lot) Time: ~2 to 2.5 hours total - plan 3 hours so we can practice mindfulness and not leave anybody behind! Vibe: some road walk and deeply wooded.

Meet and park at G's Pizzeria Bar & Grill (Lapeer Rd). Walk down gravel/dirt road for just over 1 mile. Note: There are no sidewalks, so walk defensively on the shoulder facing traffic! Look to your left (north side). You will see a dirt parking lot with a trail map bulletin board. This is the trailhead. Entering the Woods (White Trail) • Head into the woods at the bulletin board onto the White Trail. • Follow this connector path for about 0.3 miles until it dead-ends directly into the main loop.

The Main Loop (Red Trail) • When the White Trail dead-ends, turn onto the Red Trail loop. • Follow the red markers. This path winds through dense forests, crosses over Spring Creek, and takes you through rolling glacial hills.

Return Walk to G's • The Red Loop will circle you right back to the White Trail connector. • Take the White Trail back out to Greenshield Road. • Turn right (west) on Greenshield Road and walk the 1.1 miles straight back to G's Pizzeria for drinks and food!
