COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Road crews warn potholes may form later this week as temperatures rise from below freezing to 50 degrees, melting leftover snow and moisture. Officials advise drivers not to swerve when encountering a pothole to prevent tire damage.  Fox 2 Detroit

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Oakland County Sheriff warns residents to avoid dangerous ice after six rescues in the past seven days (including multiple animal incidents) were reported. He advises anyone witnessing an emergency to call 911 immediately.  CBS News Detroit

BUSINESS NEWS

  • General Motors held planned job cuts at two major plants yesterday, citing production adjustments needed due to slower near-term EV adoption. The layoffs affected about half of UAW Local 22's membership at Factory Zero (critical for local supply chains).  FOX 2 Detroit

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The 2025 State of the Great Lakes report showed piping plover pairs recovering while whitefish numbers fell because of invasive mussels, and Detroit opened Ralph C. Wilson Park, a 22-acre green space with rolling hills and a water garden.  FOX 2 Detroit

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Southfield has agreed to pay $3.25 million to the mother of Timesha Beauchamp after paramedics wrongly declared the 20-year-old dead in 2020+ the settlement ends years of delays and brings long-awaited relief to her family.  Click on Detroit
  • Early winter moisture is prompting Southfield road crews to expect potholes later this week even though they normally appear in March (a sign that weather may speed up typical road wear).  FOX 2 Detroit

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a win on Sunday, the Lions — with nine home and eight road contests in 2026 — announced home games against the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and away games against the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. Game dates will be shared later this spring.  CBS News Detroit
