- ➤ Schools have nearly reached their limit of six snow days after closing Monday and last Friday, as harsh winter weather persists. Under state rules, officials may add up to three extra days if districts provide a clear reason (a condition that must be met before the end of the school year). WXYZ

- ➤ Researchers reported that the Great Lakes were 43% frozen as of Jan. 25, with Lake Erie nearly iced over at 92% (a deep freeze followed an Arctic air surge beginning Jan. 22), and experts expect ice to grow further as cold conditions persist. Hometown Life
