ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire at a four-story apartment complex on Providence Drive at 2:44 a.m. on Jan. 29 left 27 residents + two dogs displaced while two residents were treated for smoke inhalation at a nearby hospital as firefighters battled the blaze under icy conditions. Southfield Sun
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ School boards in Oakland County are considering a 1.5 mill tax to raise $125.8 million for district operating costs on the August ballot. Huron Valley and South Lyon will vote on resolutions in February (details pending) as voters decide on the proposal. Hometown Life
- ➤ Many Metro Detroit school districts have run out of allowed snow days mid-school year, so officials are coordinating calls across counties to decide on closures.
