- ➤ Trucking owner Hardnett and Vince & Joe's Market are watching diesel prices jump by 28% since the war with Iran began; Hardnett says his business may pay an extra $4,000 each month while Munaco absorbs costs to keep prices low. WXYZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations filed a complaint with the Department of Civil Rights over a Corewell Health employee who posted hate speech online — including calls to ban Islam and close mosques. Officials have not yet commented. The Detroit News
- ➤ Boxing legend Tommy Hearns is now under guardianship after an Oakland County judge appointed his eldest son Ronald Hearns to handle all his medical and financial decisions (Hearns said he feels fine). WXYZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and a local gastroenterologist explained that eating more fruits, vegetables and whole grains while reducing red meat and ultra-processed foods and staying active can help lower the risk—especially as early-onset cases increase—with timely screenings starting at age 45. - ➤ Lawmakers in the Senate passed a package of bills on Wednesday, March 11 to ease medical debt for nearly 700,000 residents by removing such debt from credit reports, capping late fees, and requiring hospitals to offer financial assistance. The measure will move to the House for further review & approval. MLive
