- ➤ Kenny Lee Howard, a 32-year-old from Southfield, was given 94 months in prison on Thursday after he and his co-defendants took $6.3 million from state unemployment programs during the COVID-19 pandemic—his sister has admitted to the crime while another faces charges. The Detroit News
- ➤ A 19-year-old Southfield man has been charged with fleeing police, carrying a concealed weapon and driving with a suspended license after leading Berkley police on a car chase Wednesday — a judge banned him from Berkley and Royal Oak except for court appearances. The Detroit News

- ➤ Michigan Department of Natural Resources now uses a new method for handling Canada geese—roundups will lead to euthanasia using carbon dioxide instead of moving them—and will test the idea this June to help reduce conflicts in urban areas. Hometown Life
- ➤ Drivers in Oakland County will be able to use new flex lanes on I-96 between Kent Lake Road and I-275 starting March 19 — the eastbound lane will run from 6 to 9 a.m. while the westbound lane will operate from 3:30 to 6 p.m. MDOT will monitor traffic with sensors and video feeds and will soon activate ramp meters to ease congestion.
