  • Yesterday, Oakland County residents received relief when Undue Medical Debt used government donations to forgive $6M in medical debt for 6,300 low-income patients, a program that buys debt cheaply so collectors get something instead of nothing.  FOX 2 Detroit

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oakland County eliminated more than $6 million in medical debt for about 6,300 residents through its ongoing partnership with nonprofit Undue Medical Debt; letters notifying those eligible began arriving on March 9. Officials say additional rounds of relief will roll out as more providers join.  MLive

HEALTH NEWS

  • ACLU of Michigan and local health professionals released new guidance on March 24 for hospitals amid concerns over immigration enforcement. The checklist reminds hospitals they aren’t required to share patient information with law enforcement — ensuring all patients receive necessary, confidential care.  CBS News Detroit
  • Ajinomoto Foods North America recalled Asian-style frozen foods sold at Trader Joe’s and Kroger in Michigan due to potential glass contamination. Customers in Southfield who bought these items between October and February should discard them or return them for a full refund (no injuries have been reported).  Hometown Life
