Good morning, Southfield.

The warning comes as Tax Day approaches on April 15.
In Southfield, Tanjai Green told 7 News Detroit that online scams became more common after a money transferring app scam left her funds unrecovered.
Data from the Federal Trade Commission showed that consumer losses rose 25% to $12.5 billion in 2024 while psychologist Dr. Peter Lichtenberg explained scammers targeted vulnerable older adults.

Michigan's new car seat laws will go into effect on April 2 — parents must have children under two ride in rear-facing seats, children older than five use booster seats until age eight or until they are 4 feet 9 inches tall, and all children 13 and under ride in the back.
Violators of these rules could receive a ticket and the changes are set to help save lives.
