CRIME NEWS

  • Police across Oakland, Macomb, and Southfield made multiple arrests related to human trafficking and prostitution, with four people taken into custody in Macomb on Friday—while a 24-year-old in Oakland and a 61-year-old in Southfield were arrested last week on related charges.  Fox 2 Detroit

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Michigan workers filing new unemployment claims starting April 2 will receive higher weekly benefits and a longer claim period under a new law signed last December — the maximum weekly benefit increases by $84 for the rest of this year, with further increases coming in 2026 and 2027 while dependent benefits also rise. Active claims filed between January 1 and April 2 will be reviewed for retroactive adjustments even as the 26-week benefit period applies only to new claims.  CBS News Detroit

  • Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA voluntarily recalled Our Family Traverse City cherry-flavored decaf ground coffee in Michigan due to a mislabeling error that falsely identified it as decaffeinated.
