CULTURE NEWS

  • Film maker Bryanna Reed discussed her work on 'Play The Field', streaming on Tubi, and outlined her new project that will begin next week.  FOX 2 Detroit
  • Author Rod Grimes discussed his book The Blue In Me and new podcast during a local interview while promoting the upcoming Competition Corvette Club of Michigan Spring Cruise. A flood watch is in effect from Sat 1:30 p.m. to Sun 12:00 a.m. (including Wayne county and nearby areas).  FOX 2 Detroit

SPORTS NEWS

  • Michigan overpowered Arizona 91-73 in the Final Four on Saturday, April 4 and will play UConn at 8:50 p.m. on Monday for the national title. The Wolverines set a tournament scoring record with five straight games of at least 90 points.  MLive
  • Colt Keith will return as the lead-off batter for the Tigers when they face the Cardinals on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 1:10 p.m. at Comerica Park.  MLive
  • The Detroit Tigers hit four home runs to beat the Cardinals 11-6 on Saturday at Comerica Park (umpires called the game early as heavy rain turned the field to a swamp).  MLive
  • Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander is on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 1) after dealing with hip inflammation before his scheduled start tonight at Comerica Park. Right-hander Keider Montero will pitch in his place against the Cardinals.  MLive
  • On Friday, Apr. 3, the Tigers hosted the Cardinals at Comerica Park and won 4-0, snapping a four-game losing streak. Framber Valdez pitched six scoreless innings as a sellout crowd of 45,008 enjoyed memorable plays and new talent in a nostalgic game.  MLive
  • Detroit Red Wings fell to the New York Rangers 4 to 1 Saturday as they keep fighting for a wild card playoff spot with six games remaining. The loss gave the Buffalo Sabres a playoff berth while goaltender John Gibson made 17 saves and Gabriel Perreault recorded a hat trick.  CBS News Detroit
