ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • North Holly Road remains closed after heavy rain flooded it Saturday, leaving deep water. Officials plan to use large pumps — possibly to pump water over a hill — and advise drivers to take a detour via Quick, Fish Lake, and Elliot Roads.  FOX 2 Detroit

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Chick-fil-A opened its new restaurant in Lincoln Park on Thursday, Apr. 2 at 2060 Southfield Road, creating 120 local jobs. Owner-operator Marcel Smith said the location offers drive-thru, dine-in, and delivery options and supports the community with a $25,000 donation to local hunger relief.  MLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • Little Traverse Bay Bands elder Yvonne Walker Keshick and her daughter will share Anishinaabe quillwork traditions at two events—a free lecture at 6 p.m. April 8 at the Southfield Public Library and a workshop at the Birmingham Museum on April 9 (costing $180 per person).  Southfield Sun

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Michigan dropped 9 cents, setting the average at $3.87 per gallon and costing about $58 for a 15-gallon tank as of Monday, Apr. 6 — though prices remain higher than a month ago and last year.  The Detroit News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Starting Friday, April 10, dog owners can get a free rabies vaccine with a $15 dog license at the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center in Pontiac (1200 North Telegraph Rd., Building 42E). Vaccines will be available from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday.  FOX 2 Detroit

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jamie Ding, a Metro Detroit native and former Grosse Pointe student, won his 17th straight win on Jeopardy on Monday, Apr. 6, earning $31,611 to bring his 17-day total to $494,012. He will return for win number 18 on Tuesday’s show on WDIV-TV at 7:30 p.m.  The Detroit News
  • Cade Cunningham missed Monday’s game against the Magic due to a collapsed lung but is nearing return and is evaluated daily before playoffs, with coach J.B. Bickerstaff noting both Cunningham and Isaiah Stewart (who missed 12 games) are making progress.  MLive
  • The Detroit Red Wings face three challenges with five games remaining, including lingering injuries to captain Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond, a tiebreaker disadvantage, and rival coaching shifts that boost competition in upcoming home games with Columbus on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Philadelphia on Thursday at 7 p.m.  MLive
