- ➤ Today at 7 a.m., westbound I-696 between Southfield and Lahser roads will operate with two lanes for median work over three months, and drivers must follow a detour — via I-75, Davison Highway and the Lodge Freeway. On May 9 at 9 p.m., the stretch from I-75 to the Lodge will fully close for about 10 days for demolition of the Church Street Plaza Bridge while eastbound I-696 remains closed until fall reopening.
