Good morning, Southfield.

Authorities said investigators are looking into the death of Lenard Pierre Jackson, 38, from Dundee whose body was found on a hillside near Charleston in West Virginia on April 15 and showed injuries that appear to have been caused by someone else, with people of interest being interviewed and no arrests made so far.

Police said a shooting on Wednesday near the Southfield Freeway left a 13-year-old boy hurt and they are asking the public for help finding two women—one wearing a white tank top with black Adidas track pants and the other in a black Adidas jogging suit—who were seen near the scene.

DTE Energy filed a request with the Michigan Public Service Commission for a $574 million rate increase for its 2.3 million customers in Southeast Michigan after a $217 million increase in January — the filing supports key upgrades like Belle River Power Plant fuel conversion and grid improvements as part of a 10-month review with new rates that may take effect on Feb. 24, 2026. Attorney General Dana Nessel said her office will scrutinize the request to ensure that costs are justified.

Travelers without a Real ID may use a U.S. passport, passport card or other approved IDs for domestic air travel but must update their Michigan driver's license by May 7th at a local Secretary of State office—TSA may ask extra questions if proper ID is not shown.
