CRIME NEWS

  • Family members held a candlelight vigil near Millard Street and Sherman Avenue in Southfield two days ago after London Thomas, a Metro Detroit teen last seen in Inkster, was found dead in an SUV driveway with police holding two persons in custody—another vigil is scheduled on May 10 in Redford.  CBS News Detroit

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Michigan dropped 11 cents since last week to an average of $3.04 per gallon as announced by AAA on Monday (motorists now pay about $45 for a full 15-gallon tank).  The Detroit News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Metro Detroit motorists will notice new ramp closures at the I-275 interchange with M-14/I-96 in Wayne County as the northbound ramp to eastbound I-96 closed at 6 a.m. Monday and will remain closed through late June, with detours via eastbound I-696 — southbound M-10 to southbound M-39 guiding traffic and Farmington Road serving as an alternate for eastbound I-96 Exit 173 to Newburgh Road.  CBS News Detroit
