Good morning, Southfield.

Mark Wahlberg’s charity golf outing at Detroit Golf Club raised over $1.3 million for children’s hospitals and added to more than $6 million in total funds raised in metro Detroit—he looked back at his early ties during the event’s fifth year.

Southfield Mayor Ken Siver gave his annual State of the City address at Lear on June 5 and discussed repurposing vacant buildings, boosting local investments from companies like Lucid Motors, and ongoing road improvements.

He said the city is turning old buildings into housing and will update residents at 7 p.m. June 12 in City Council chambers — 26000 Evergreen Road.

The USPS launched its National Dog Bite Awareness Campaign and urged dog owners in Southfield to secure their pets to protect mail carriers.

The campaign comes after more than 6,000 dog attacks on postal workers last year—Detroit had 32 incidents—and may lead to halted service if carriers feel unsafe.

New Hope Center for Grief Support is offering a free bereavement camp to help children who have lost a parent or sibling cope with their grief.

The camp follows research showing Michigan ranks 23rd in the nation for bereaved children with 1 in 11 expected to face such loss by age 18 — families and volunteers can contact the center for more information.
