  • Brian Mierendorf, 37, lost part of his hands in a defective refrigerant explosion while working at a Kroger store in Bloomfield Township in 2020+ a jury later awarded him more than $75 million.  FOX 2 Detroit

CRIME NEWS

  • Charla Rashida Pendergrass, 48, was due in court yesterday at 10 a.m. on charges of lying about the disappearance of 17-year-old London Thomas, whose body was found in Southfield after she went missing in April — investigators said that phone records and video evidence proved her statement was false.  Fox 2 Detroit

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Traffic lights to control ramp entries began operating this week on I-96 in Oakland County to guide drivers at eight on-ramps between Novi and Milford roads—MDOT said they flash yellow now and will soon show red and green signals. The flex route opened in March between Kent Lake Road and the I-275/I-696/M-5 interchange to help reduce crashes and keep traffic moving.  CBS News Detroit
