On Monday, gas prices in Michigan reached an average of $4.23 per gallon statewide and near $4.20 in Metro Detroit as higher demand drove rises despite oil prices falling, and an analyst noted new developments could change the trend.
Gas prices statewide have risen eight cents since last week, with drivers now paying an average of $4.23 per gallon while metro Detroit rates increased 13 cents to about $4.22, according to AAA.

Michigan health officials reported 9,253 cyclosporiasis cases so far & 160 hospitalizations, with many cases in Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland and Ingham counties.
