- ➤ As of July 31, Canadian wildfire smoke led Michigan officials to issue an air quality advisory for the entire state, with some areas like Marquette (217 air reading) showing very unhealthy conditions. The advisory urged residents (especially those with asthma or heart disease) to limit outdoor time and watch for breathing problems. Hometown Life
- ➤ Michigan's environmental agency extended a statewide air quality advisory through Saturday because wildfire smoke from Canada is raising pollution levels to unhealthy ranges—although some parts of the Lower Peninsula may see brief relief today, residents in sensitive groups are advised to limit outdoor activity. - ➤ Today some Michigan Social Security recipients who began benefits before May 1997 will receive their checks while others get payments on August 13th, 20th, and 27th based on their birth dates—recipients who were overpaid may get smaller checks as the agency starts its recoupment process.
