Gas prices in Michigan rose by 18 cents per gallon over the past week to an average of $3.30 for regular unleaded gas, making a 15-gallon fill cost about $49, AAA-The Auto Club reported (a rate 1 cent higher than last month and 19 cents lower than last year).

Metro Detroit prices increased by 12 cents from last week, and local Southfield drivers may soon face these higher costs (AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland noted that limited demand changes play a role).

Metro Detroit school districts face a bus driver shortage and are offering bonuses, higher wages, and free training—tools expected to attract new drivers—and help keep students safe on the road today.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said more than 100 bridges risk closing by 2035 if state funding is not passed—this could affect 1.8 million drivers daily, with the I-96 Southfield interchange among the vulnerable areas, and officials warn nearly half of state routes will be in poor condition without more investment.
