Oakland County commissioners approved a $1.17 billion budget that will take effect Oct.
1—this plan raises pay for non-represented workers, funds affordable housing and public health, and expands winter emergency shelter capacity. The budget also adds nearly $500,000 for a human trafficking task force and increases funding for weekly beach testing.
Oakland County officials are discussing a new law enforcement training center after a Guidepost Solutions report showed outdated facilities slowed response during the Oxford High School attack.
Sheriff Bouchard first proposed an $88 million center in 2021 and talks have restarted this week to modernize emergency services.
