  • AMC Theatres and other chains will host Taylor Swift’s Party of a Showgirl event from October 3 to October 5 to showcase her new album The Life of a Showgirl and premiere her music video The Fate of Ophelia. Tickets cost $12 and are sold online on a first come, first served basis — Michigan venues include AMC, Cinemark, and Emagine.  Hometown Life

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Four meteor showers will light up Michigan skies in October, including the Draconids, Orionids, Southern Taurids, and Northern Taurids. The Draconids will peak on Oct. 8 while the Orionids peak on Oct. 22-23 (the Southern Taurids peak on Nov. 3-4) and (the Northern Taurids peak on Nov. 8-9).  Hometown Life

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • United Auto Workers Local 6000 warned that a shutdown in Lansing may soon disrupt state services for over 16,000 workers and could delay funding for schools and essential programs. Gov. Whitmer’s budget team is now in talks while lawmakers must secure enough votes to pass a new budget—raising concerns about the stability of public services.  CBS News Detroit
