CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local Michigan artists are showcasing their work in an exhibition at Southfield City Hall—26000 Evergreen Road—hosted by the Public Arts Commission and Mayor Ken Siver. The show opened on Sept. 25 and will run until Dec. 17, with eight artists including Nina Ashraf and Jonathan Kimble presenting pieces for sale. Southfield Sun
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Government operations have continued normally today as bipartisan lawmakers work to finalize a state budget that funds roads, school meals, and Medicaid. Officials reached an agreement on September 25 — the legislature will vote on the budget later this week. CBS News Detroit
- ➤ Retired Ford engineer Don Ufford said his campaign raised $350,000 since launching in late August to challenge Southfield state Sen. Jeremy Moss for the U.S. House seat—his early fundraising shows his message is reaching voters. Ufford, a first-time candidate from Bloomfield Township, plans to build on this momentum as the race for Michigan’s 11th District continues. The Detroit News
