  • After two impostors who posed as utility workers to fix a gas leak were convicted in a murder trial, DTE urged Southfield residents to check badges and call its service line to verify identities—helping prevent further fraud.  CBS News Detroit

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Michigan gas prices jumped 6 cents from last week and cost drivers an average of $3.09 per gallon, according to AAA—Metro Detroit prices were about $3.06 per gallon, 5 cents lower than last week and 37 cents less than a year ago.  CBS News Detroit
  • Gas prices in Michigan have climbed by 6 cents since last week—averaging $3.09 per gallon so drivers now pay about $46 for a full 15-gallon tank. In Detroit, prices have dropped 3 cents per gallon to an average of $3.04, according to AAA and GasBuddy.  The Detroit News

  • Michigan's state budget provided a recurring $30 million — with an added $5 million for one year — to support domestic violence victim services on October 6, and community groups warned that the funds might be insufficient as federal aid is set to drop 40%.  CBS News Detroit
