- ➤ Michigan sky gazers can watch four meteor showers in October—with the Draconids peaking today but possibly dimmed by the Harvest Moon, the Orionids peaking Oct.22-23, and the Southern and Northern Taurids peaking in early November—and local dark sky parks offer the best viewing spots. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At an Oakland County Board of Commissioners meeting yesterday, workers and officials questioned why road commissioner James Esshaki stayed on the job after he reportedly threatened an employee on a work site — an independent report said his behavior created fear. The board may soon hold a hearing to decide if he should be removed. WXYZ
- ➤ Gov. Whitmer signed Michigan’s bipartisan budget into law on Tuesday—after lawmakers approved a temporary extension on Sept. 30 to prevent a state shutdown. The new law funds road repairs, tax cuts for seniors and working families, free school meals, public safety, and capital projects including improvements at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
