  • Michigan native Brooks Blanton, with three decades in TV news, will join WJBK as vice president and news director on Oct. 20—he previously led news at WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids and will head news, business, and streaming operations. The station said his appointment comes as part of an effort to expand its local coverage.  The Detroit News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said that with National Guard troops arriving in Illinois, a deployment to Michigan is likely and she is prepared to file a lawsuit to stop it—local leaders in Detroit stress the need for increased safety funding. SPORTS NEWS

  • After a 37-24 win over the Bengals, Dan Campbell said the Lions will fix late mistakes—spurred by injuries to two key cornerbacks—before facing the Chiefs next Sunday.  CBS News Detroit
  • The Detroit Tigers won 9-3 in Game 4 of the ALDS at Comerica Park on October 8 and forced Game 5 against the Seattle Mariners. The series decider will be held in Seattle Friday—Skubal will face Kirby as the Tigers aim to advance.  CBS News Detroit
