- ➤ Southfield will open its first members-only dog park on Oct. 17 at Lahser Woods Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. The park will offer separate play areas for large and small dogs and soon add EV chargers while requiring proper licensing and vaccinations for membership. Fox 2 Detroit

- ➤ Michigan will celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day today after Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a proclamation honoring Native peoples and their history—while the federal government continues to observe Columbus Day, celebrating explorer Christopher Columbus.
