  • Joe Louis Southern Kitchen opened its second location at 29649 Northwestern Highway on Dec. 9, fulfilling a longtime dream for co-CEOs Joe Louis Barrow Jr. and Johnny Cannon — the new venue honors the legacy of boxing great Joe Louis and offers the neighborhood a quality dining experience.  Southfield Sun
  • A data center project proposed by Panattoni Data Center Group is set to span three buildings (from Haggerty to Hannan Roads) along I-94 and has faced community backlash. Local residents say they plan to meet city officials to discuss concerns in the coming weeks.  FOX 2 Detroit

CULTURE NEWS

  • Southfield Chanukah Parade will take place on Dec. 16 at Young Israel of Southfield's Stevenson Lot — the event features a parade starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by a menorah lighting and fire show at 6 p.m. with Chanukah treats.  Hometown Life

HEALTH NEWS

  • Corewell Health's Royal Oak hospital is hosting its Moonbeams program every night at 8 p.m. through Dec. 23 to help pediatric patients feel less alone by inviting well-wishers to shine flashlights from outside + patients return the lights.  The Detroit News
