Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 28th of December.
Good morning, Southfield.
🎭 Culture
Fans have launched petitions to create an official Lego kit of Michigan's famous Pere Marquette 1225 steam locomotive (the real Polar Express) as it nears its 85th anniversary.
The campaign is underway online, while the train is set to pull seasonal holiday excursions from its Owosso museum grounds.
🌲 Environment
Yesterday, nearly 30,000 electric customers in Michigan lost power after freezing rain left about 0.1 inch of ice across central and southeast regions (Oakland County had 7,400 outages) while utility crews worked to restore service.
🏥 Health
Testing at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac detected Legionella bacteria in water sources; county officials will install filters, flush the system (as advised by its water consultant) and temporarily close affected fixtures to keep employees and visitors safe.
